Deanbank herd of pedigree Dexter Cattle |
We chose to raise Dexter cattle for a number of reasons. They were classed as a rare breed until recently and, while this is no longer the case, they are certainly not common. We wanted to help to preserve this breed that are good “all-rounders” meaning that they produce good milk and beef. They are very small which makes them a bit easier on the ground. Most importantly, they taste great. | ||||||

| Here’s a photo of our two cows: Chough (strange name for a cow – better for a wee bird perhaps) and Georgina. Paddy bought them for Pauline’s birthday in 2007 (already pregnant) and they produced two lovely calves in the autumn. Rosie will be our milk cow eventually and Dennis will taste great | ||||||
